WONDERAcross Continents
Axel Wild's first live spatial audio show, on Thursday 19 November 2026. A 15,000 mile sonic journey following millions of birds and the stories they tell: music and spoken stories from the Across Continents expedition, with guest musicians, moving all around and above you on a 27-speaker sound system.
WONDER Across Continents is also the name of the final expedition, setting off in 2027. Follow the expedition

The Global Birdsong
BirdLife International's Partners recorded birdsong in more than 100 countries. Timothy Arinaitwe and Axel Wild turned it into one Afro-electronic track. Sounds Right, the music project from Brian Eno's climate charity EarthPercent and UN Live, released it with NATURE credited as an artist, so part of every stream goes to conservation.
Vjosë-Nartë wild rave!
A live mixtape of beats made during the bird-ringing and sound residency with the Albanian Ornithological Society, featuring wildlife sounds gathered at Vjosë-Nartë. The energy flows through the ponds, bushes and fields, reaching the bay, where it all comes together.

How do we make music with bird sounds?
Much of the music starts on Across Continents, overland expeditions following migratory birds between Europe and Africa. Along the way Axel records wildlife, shares music and stories with the communities he meets, and brings the sounds home to build tracks from. WONDER, on 19 November, brings the expeditions to the stage.

Where it all started: a Soundly × Sounding Wild film. Axel sets out on a years-long expedition across West Africa to record the calls of migratory birds, some rare, some on the edge of disappearing. What begins with the memory of a single bird call becomes a personal mission through forests, wetlands, and remote villages.
