With Sam Lee, Mercury Prize-nominated folk artist and environmental advocate: an audio drama adapted from an intimate woodland experience where audiences hear, and sing with, migratory nightingales. Axel developed the touring version, composing the soundscape and field recordings from the migratory flyway between Europe and West Africa, scaling the show from intimate rooms to festival stages while keeping its improvisational nature. Performed at Glastonbury (the Woodsies stage, 2025), Shambala, EartH Hackney, and Future of Sound.
"Sounding Wild was the creative catalyst that narrativised what we were hearing and helped us broaden the appreciation of these birds." — Sam Lee
Featured in The Guardian, BBC Radio, Emergence Magazine, and Financial Review.
Composed with Tim Arinaitwe for BirdLife International: one piece of music woven from bird sounds contributed by nearly all of BirdLife's 125 Partners, across 100+ countries. Premiered at the Global Flyways Summit & Partnership Meeting in Nairobi, September 2026.
Sounds Right, the music project from Brian Eno's climate charity EarthPercent and UN Live, released it in October 2026. The credits read Timothy Arinaitwe, Axel Wild and NATURE, so part of every stream goes to conservation.
